Joseph P. Kerr, 90, passed peacefully February 1st with his daughter by his side. Dear husband of the late Mary P. (Harmon) Kerr, loving father of Mary (Jack) O’Toole and the late Joan (Kevin) Kelly. Cherished Papa of Kate, Margaret, and Shannon Kelly, Jack (Lynne) O’Toole and Cindy (Rodney) Thompson. Adoring great-grandfather to Lauren, Gabrielle, Ginger, Cash, Kennedy, and Taylor Joan. Joseph is the last of nine Scottish siblings, and joins them in eternal rest – Art Kerr, Bridie (Al) Paganini, Mike (Audrey) Kerr, Dolores (Bob) Bielaski, Tom (Marilyn) Kerr and 3 brothers who passed away in infancy. Beloved uncle of many nieces and nephews and is survived by other loving relatives and friends, especially Edna Frindell.

Joe was a 49 year resident of Mt. Prospect and a long-time member of St. Raymond’s and Rolling Green Country Club.

Joe was born in Chicago in 1925, graduated from St. Rita High School in 1943, served in WWII and briefly attended DePaul where he met Mary Harmon. Joe was a dedicated family man, Air Force veteran, proud retired banker and possessed a very keen sense of humor. Many that knew him or met him will recall Joe as the “Two Dollar Bill man”, dispensing $2 with the adage that the bill was for good luck and could not be spent – only given to someone else for Luck. Joe was an avid sports fan, and while a strong supporter of the White Sox, would watch any and all Chicago sports teams with enthusiasm. He gave his family wonderful memories and will be greatly missed by all.
